If you are here and anything like me your planning on changing your life right? Like every new year we all decide to make changes for ourselves. You want to work on yourself and find what you can do to drastically improve your lifestyle. Whether that be adding in a new fitness routine or eating healthier. It's a new year and let it be on our New Years resolution to start that change today! For me, wanting to make that change has been quite challenging. I've started and stopped, haven't gone through with the changes, lost motivation, and just let it go. So what is it going to take to make that change in your life?
For most of 2024 I tried to make that change in my life. Starting to eat healthier, exercising, spend less time on social media, eating junk food, cutting back on caffeine more time socializing with family and friends, and the list goes on. While I made tiny changes through 2024 I didn't make the change that I wanted to. Like many say when it comes to the new year what is the point of following through with New Years resolutions if your not going to actually follow through with them? I find in my life this year there is a lot at stake for me. I let my mental health decline by not pushing myself and not giving myself firm boundaries and that is a top priority on my list for this year. I haven't put in the work for myself like I wanted too. When we make these promises to ourselves every year many of us do not follow through. Statistically speaking, 92% of Americans do not follow through with New years Resolutions. WOW!!
In my opinion, as a society I don't think we push ourselves enough. We begin to and when we feel the slightest bit of exhaustion or a bit of hard work or a challenge we quit. I feel like that is how we have been conditioned as a society. This year I challenge you to push yourself harder, strive through those goals with me, fight for your mental health, and physical health. Stay strict with yourself!!
Here is a few of my things that I am working on, how to work on them and how you can make these changes in your life too!
Cutting Back on Social Media Use
Did you know that social media is more addictive than drugs and alcohol? This was a shocker for me when I found this out. For someone who works on social media and is constantly on their phone I have a very high usage of social media. Once you take the time to see how much usage you use on social media daily you begin to understand just how much control it has over your life. For some people this may not be much and others it can be half the day or longer. So if your someone who struggles with social media addiction. What can you do?
There are a few interventions that you can follow through with!
There are therapist that handle social media addiction, you can try self-help remedies including setting time limits on all social media platforms
Boosting Mental Health Naturally
Did you know it can be pretty simple to boost your mental health naturally? There is many ways to boost your mental health without prescriptions. Here are 5 ways that you can boost yours!
Addressing your Stressors. Addressing your stress is the most important way to improve your mental health. This can be challenging especially if you do not know how to reduce that stress especially if that stress is family related.
Getting the right amount of sleep. This one can be hard especially if you have young kids or work that disrupts your sleep schedule however, it is important to remember that your sleep schedule is important and even if you have a little one that wakes through the night taking time to nap during the day for a little while is important!
Herbal Remedies. Taking the time to do some research on herbal remedies for anxiety and depression and finding the right one for you can help you out a lot! I will be making a future blog post on this very soon!
Spend your time outdoors. The benefits of spending your time outdoors is endless! I know i I'm having a hard day spending time outdoors always makes it better. My favorite way of doing this is going for a small hike with my family. Even taking a walk or just spending time at the beach can brighten your day!
Changing your diet! Your diet plays a key role in your mental health. It's even more crucial in the U.S. to read labels when you eat. Many have been finding that the food they eat has been doing more harm to them than good. Especially if you eat a lot of processed food. Eating highly nutrient dense food will help benefit your mental health and help you become a better version of yourself. No just for your mental health either but also your physical health.
Staying Fit for My Family
Not only is staying fit for your family important for you but it's an important healthy habit to teach our children. Many parents of our generations tend to sit and watch tv more than teach our children to be active and it's a great reminder that our children learn from watching us. So what are they going to learn from us if we sit on our phones all day or on our other devices? They will follow in our footsteps and do the same. If you don't already have a fitness plan it's great to start one. Always start small and work your way up! Finding what works best for you and to push yourself as well! Finding a fitness buddy to help you or maybe someone with the same goals. You are more likely to stay fit if you have the motivation or a partner to stay fit with.
Focusing on My Goals
This year I am focusing on my goals as well and making sure I follow through with them and push myself. I have a tendency of setting some realistic but many unrealistic goals for myself and trying to finish them all at once. Or making goals and not even completing them but changing them. If you also struggle with reaching goals, setting realistic goals and focusing on them, here are some tips that can help you! Avoiding multitasking is so important. I struggle so much with this one and as someone with autism it's so hard to not multitask. I find it easier to focus on one task at a time when I listen to music or podcasts while working. Practicing time management is very important to make sure you reach those goals in time. Prioritizing the goals is so important! I like to put mine in order from high priority to low priority. Finishing difficult task first and saving the easier tasks for later.
Pursuing My Career
This year I find it more important than ever to pursue my career. I find it can be intimidating for many especially when we have other duties like being parents and caretakers for our families. At many points throughout the past few years I almost gave up in pursuing any career because I thought I wouldn't be able to handle it. However, throughout this past year I realized that I have much more determination than I previously thought I did. While it is challenging especially when you work from home and taking care of your children with little to no help it surely is possible! This year I plan on focusing on that and helping other mom's find this for themselves as well. I plan on making a bunch of post relating to this and hope to help many of you wonderful ladies find yourself and your career!
Learn New Things
Learning new things in general is so important in boosting our brain health. This is how we keep our brains healthy and strong. I find that learning new things has been a wonderful addition to keeping tabs on my mental health and education as well! If this is something that you are interested in. I recommend checking out free courses on subjects you can take that spark your interest. Over the past year I have found a few that are wonderful and some that were a bit challenging but also changed my perspective on different career fields. If your up for it as well checking out your local community college as well for classes you can take!
Saving Money
Now this one I know is so hard for many of us that are struggling in the economy however, if this is a resolution you are sticking with as well here are some ways that I plan on saving money as well! Finding small jobs in or around your area that you can do! Many people are looking for babysitters, or help around their home, elderly are in search of help with things as well that they can no longer do, selling things from your home, and finding other side hustles to do that will help rake in enough money to throw to savings to help save money. This can even include sticking to a budget and talking to a financial counselor that can help you create achievable goals with your finances.
Read More Books
This one is a fairly easy one for me and if you know me I am a huge booktok girly and I love reading. I am currently on the last book of the ACOTAR series and I am not very much looking forward to reading books outside the series since it has consumed my entire year. If you have read this series before you know how challenging it is to get into other books after finishing the series. Besides the point of ACOTAR being the best book series ever created.... reading books is wonderful for you! It reduces your stress, you have better sleep quality (if you don't have children), it can reduce depression symptoms, and give you a stronger brain and improve your focus and concentration. Who knew that books could be this good for you?
With all this being said, I hope that all of you have a wonderful New Year and stay determined to work on those resolutions and goals for yourself. Find a buddy to partner up with that has the same goals in mind so you can keep each other determined and strong throughout the year! Let's let this be the year that we come back stronger and better than ever! Because as moms we are the backbone of our family let's turn our focus onto finding ourselves again and being the best version of ourselves not only for our families but for YOU! We got this ladies!! Let's make this our year to shine!!

Very thoughtful and well written post. Getting outdoors is one thing I hope to do more of this year.
